Newsdays - sponsored by the TES for much of its existenceNewsdays

For many years we provided both technical and educational expertise to this project, which was managed and led by Brian Robinson, a senior IT adviser in the North East of England, and for much of its life was sponsored by the Times Educational Supplement (TES).

Newsdays provided groups of school students all over the world with the experience of creating a newspaper in a single day.

In the days before Web browsing was commonplace, we provided newsfeeds from press agencies by email, and also ran "fax surveys", collaborative projects where students in different schools gathered survey data and shared their results by faxing forms to our server. (The combined results could then be downloaded, providing an exciting and meaningful context for teaching about spreadsheets.)
As technology developed, we adapted the concepts to the Web and streamlined the implementation.
Newsdays ran from 1991 to 2008.
