Global Connections
We ran this pioneering and exploratory project on behalf of BT Community Partnerships in the late 1990s, to explore the educational possibilities which relatively low cost videoconferencing equipment combined with international ISDN connections were opening up. The project was one of several we undertook which allowed us to pursue our ideas about using communications technologies across the whole curriculum for exciting and motivating learning experiences in schools and FE colleges.
Although most of the work on this project was done with simple end-to-end videoconferencing calls between the UK and the USA, some activity and some of the transatlantic management meetings which we chaired were facilitated with bridged video or audio calls... back in the days when that was the only way to do it!
